The aluminum sheet bending processing industry often encounter common problems such as workpiece fracture, springback, deformation, and slippage during the bending process of the bending machine. In the construction machinery industry, there are many types of sheet metal and different material properties. How can it not break?

Several main reasons for aluminum plate fracture after bending

The size of the bending R angle

When bending, the bending tool and the lower die opening are small, so that the stress concentration of the steel plate during bending is more serious, and it is prone to cracks or breaks.

Aluminum plate grain direction

The fiber texture formed in the bending process of the aluminum plate, due to its directionality, causes the mechanical properties of the material to be anisotropic. In the actual operation process, when the grain direction is parallel to the direction of the bending line, the tensile strength of the material becomes worse, causing cracks at the rounded corners. So it should be perpendicular to the aluminum plate grain direction.

Hardness of aluminum plate

The aluminum plate is too hard and easily breaks. This requires a good choice of aluminum, mainly depending on the grade and state of the aluminum. Generally, the 1 series, 3 series, and 5 series more commonly use; the hardness of the 6 series and 7 series is too high, and it must anneale to the O state before bending. There is also the quality of aluminum plates. Imported aluminum plates of the same model are less prone to cracking than domestic ones, but the price of the materials is also much higher.

Aluminum parts that need to be drawn

If the process permits, it is best to stretch after bending, otherwise it will increase the probability of bending fracture

Approach

If the overall shape of the material is restricted, make the rolling direction parallel to the direction of the bending line. Ordinary steel plates need to increase the radius of the bending angle, which is at least twice the minimum bending radius. The minimum strength of the high-strength bending tool should be 4 times. Under the premise of ensuring the design, the lower die opening should be as large as possible.

When the rolling direction is perpendicular to the bending line, the material has greater tensile strength, and the bending fillet radius can be the minimum bending radius.

The bending direction of the steel plate must be perpendicular or at a certain angle to the rolling direction of the steel plate to avoid the same direction as the rolling direction.
